Born 1805 in Tiverton, Devon, England. Married Mary Williams of Uffculme, Devon, England in 1829. Father of 11 children and patriarch to hundreds of descendants found worldwide. From his humble birth, he raised himself to noted builder and honored bell ringer. In honor of his step-father, he gave the middle name of Sommers to all of his children.
